Community Engagement Webinar
Listen to the stories of the 3 innovators featured in the case profiles above. This webinar explored community engagement through three issues, male involvement, understanding culture and the de-colonization of program design. The discussion builds on the experience of three teams from Africa and South America, Promundo, RWAMREC, and CanalCanoa.
Our panelists were Miguel Fontes
(Founder of Promundo), Rita de Cácia Oenning Da
Silva and Kurt Shaw (Co-Executive Directors of
Usina da Imaginacão, implementing CanalCanoa),
and Emmanuel Karamage (Field Coordinator of the
Rwanda Men's Resource Centre) and Kate Doyle
(Promundo Fellow). Our facilitators were Penny
Holding, Muneera Rasheed, and Helen Walsh.
Note: Our sincere apologies: we were not able to capture the webinar in its entirety. The recorded excerpt begins with Kurt and Rita from CanalCanoa discussing the RWAMREC program, and continues with responses and comments from the RWAMREC team itself; it then includes the RWAMREC team introducing the Promundo project, with responses from Promundo. (To learn about the CanalCanoa project, which was discussed but not recorded, please read their case profile above and check out their paper.)
